A Florida boy ran one mile Sunday night in honor of fallen Bell County Sheriff Deputy John Rhoden.

Zechariah Cartledge ran one mile Sunday night in honor of Deputy John Rhoden.

Zechariah Cartledge, 11, helped start the non-profit Running 4 Heroes. Cartledge says he's trying to run for every fallen first responder in 2020.

Sunday night, he carried an American flag with a blue stripe in honor of Deputy Rhoden. The run was streamed live on Facebook.

He told KWTX he is humbled to be able to offer families a way to honor their loved one with COVID-19 making it tough to have funerals.

"He was a beautiful soul and I'll never forget him down here in Florida," Cartledge said.

He will present the flag from Sunday night to the family of Deputy Rhoden.

Last year, he also ran one mile in honor of fallen Falls County Sheriff's Deputy Matt Jones.
