FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) Killeen police have joined the search for Fort Hood Pvt. Gregory Wendel-Morales who’s been missing for more than a week

“The case is actively being investigated by our Criminal Investigation Division,” spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said Tuesday.

Morales who’s assigned to the 150th Composite Transportation Company, was last seen on the night of Aug. 19 and was placed on AWOL status on Aug. 20.

His mother, Kim Wedel, posted earlier on Facebook that he just purchased a black 2018 Kia Rio.

"He is scheduled to process out of the military in September so going AWOL just doesn’t make sense," she said last week.
