FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) About 40 Fort Hood mothers-to-be were pleasantly surprised Wednesday at a baby shower hosted by H-E-B’s Operation Shower and emceed by KWTX morning show anchor Taina Maya.

Each went home with a $700 stroller donated by H-E-B along with other baby items.

Beth Funk, the wife of III Corps and Fort Hood Commander Lt. Gen. Paul Funk II, said she knows how hard it can be to raise a family in a military household, and loves seeing the moms-to-be leave with the tools they need.

"I am blown away at the generosity of our community. H-E-B has just put together something really spectacular, and so I'm very excited to be here with our pregnant mamas celebrating this really special time,” she said.

The annual event started in 2007.
