FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) Many families were happy to see their loved ones return as Fort Hood welcomed home 260 soldiers from the 1st Medical Brigade, 9th Hospital Center.

The brigade was assisting and providing medical attention to coronavirus victims in New York, the epicenter of the virus.

The soldiers had to be quarantined for two weeks before returning home.

Major Jose Mendoza says that while the deployment was fast and scary, he couldn't be prouder of the service they provided to others.

"We trained for this at all times," he said.

"We've provided services similar to this in a foreign country. So, I think us being able to provide those services to our fellow Americans was a most rewarding experience and they got to see what we bring to the table as a medical community,"

The brigade was deployed in New York since March 25.
