A 1st Cavalry Division color casing ceremony happened Thursday, and the brigade's flag was ceremoniously packed away for deployment.

Soldiers will be spread across three camps in the region.

"We've got an entire brigade combat team of troops going which means we have combat arms as well as combat support and combat service support soldiers going."

The deployment is part of a nine-month rotation in support of Republic of Korea allies.

"We've had a year-long train up that included a lot of situational training exercises all the way through our rotations at the National Training Center," says Col. Kevin Capra, Commander of the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team.

"Then, post-National Training Center in January and February- we've been working very heavily on our gunnery exercises as well as the maintenance of our equipment to go to Korea," he adds.

Part of that preparation includes ongoing cultural training.
The first group is expected to deploy June 15th.
