GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) The Coryell County Sheriff's office has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gatesville Independent School District to begin random drug searches in local schools by its K-9 units.

"We want to definitely keep any illegal narcotics use or distribution out of our local schools," Coryell County Sheriff Scott Williams said Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office has three K-9 teams will be used in the searches.

"We are glad we can utilize our dogs to check any school on any given day, again we just want these schools to be safe," Williams says.
