BELTON, Texas (KWTX) Three Bell County men who were arrested in June after an area resident was blocked in by vehicles equipped with red and blue lights were indicted Wednesday for impersonating an officer.

The Bell County Grand Jury handed up indictments against James E. Mercer, 50, of Heidenheimer; John Ernest Burroughs, 31, of Temple, and Joshua Chance Adkins, 28, of Killeen.

The three were arrested after Bell County deputies responded at around 11:30 a.m. on June 5 to the area of FM 93 and Spur 93 after receiving a report of an armed subject.

When they arrived, they were told the men who had blocked in the resident headed toward Academy.

Deputies were able to catch up with the trio.

The three were arrested and were jailed in lieu of $100,000 bonds.

None appeared on the jail’s online roster Wednesday.
