H-E-B releases Super Bowl commercial with a Texas twist

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KWTX) With less than a week before the big game, Texas-based H-E-B released its Super Bowl ad Monday and it delivers with a surprisingly Texas twist.

Playing off the popular movie “Castaway,” starring Tom Hanks, the commercial starts off with a man trapped on a deserted island, trying to survive.

He uses palm leaves to write out the words “send help” in hopes anyone flying above would see it.

On day 154 of his ordeal, a cooler full of H-E-B products washes ashore, and the man’s fate turns as he devours chips and salsa, coffee, OJ, and steaks.

The one minute commercial ends with the castaway reworking his distress message after spotting a plane overhead to read, “Send H-E-B.”

KWTX will broadcast the game Sunday, as the New England Patriots take on the Los Angeles Rams.
