HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) A Harker Heights man accused of grabbing a gun, loading it and placing the barrel between the eyes of his pregnant girlfriend because a baby shower ran late was indicted Wednesday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Raymond Allen Strange, 42, of Harker Heights, was arrested on Oct. 21 after officers responded to a report of a man with a gun at a home in the 1800 block of McGinnis Court.

The man and woman had agreed that the baby shower would end by 7 p.m. on Oct. 21, but when he returned home sometime after 7:30 p.m. the party was still underway, police said.

“The female of the house met the man of the house in a separate room from the party and apologized for the party still going on,” police said in a press release.

“The male of the house stated everyone had to leave, and then grabbed a handgun, locked and loaded it, and pointed it at the female of the house head, placing the barrel against her head touching her skin between the eyes,” police said.

Strange was initially held at the Harker Heights Police Department, but was booked into the Bell County Jail on Oct. 22.

His bond was set at $100,000.

His name didn’t appear on the jail’s online roster Wednesday.
