HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) A sewage overflow Tuesday evening in Harker Heights caused 17,500 gallons of waste to spill into Trimmier Creek.
The city said the spill was a result of “the floats and pumps inability to not automatically turn on.”
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality sent out an environmental investigator to determine the impact of the spill and said it was contained to a low area, the city said.
Fish in the creek did die as a result.
The technician was able to replace the damaged float and reprogram additional alarms at the lift station.
The city will continue to monitor the water for the next few days.
