TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) The Temple Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit is looking for witnesses and surveillance videos that may generate leads in the search for a driver who fled after a deadly hit-and-run, a department spokeswoman said Thursday.

Officers who responded to the accident at around 9:20 p.m. Monday found Mario Arriaga, 54, of Austin, lying in the roadway in the 1500 block of Scott Boulevard.

He was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple where he later died.

Arriaga’s family, earlier this week, is also asking witnesses or others with information to come forward.

“You would want to know the same if this was one of your family members. His family is in need of answers. Please do what is right,” the family said in a statement.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500 or Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-TIPS.
