FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) We're still over a month away from Christmas Day, but that's not stopping Santa Claus from making trips across the world.
Santa was in town at the Fisher House on Fort Hood for the first annual "Meet Santa Holiday Event."
Families of veterans on the post were invited to the free event.
The Fisher House provides free housing to families while their loved one -- either active-duty or retired -- is receiving medical treatment here in Central Texas.
“This is a home away from home. A lot of people that stay here are from out of town. So, you know, to bring in a sense of family, a sense of love," Ft. Hood Fisher House manager Steven Wakefield said. "This place is a house, just to feel and experience togetherness, to bring a community together, that’s what we’re here for.”
Those who came to meet Santa also dropped off a gift for Santa's workshop. Those toys will be given to a local family in need.
