HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) Officers who responded to a report of an early-morning burglary in a Harker Heights neighborhood arrived to find the homeowner chasing the would-be thief down the street.

Officers were dispatched at around 3:25 a.m. Sunday to a burglary of a habitation in progress in the 1200 block of Lancelot Drive.

While en route, they learned that the homeowner was arguing with someone in the garage of the home and one caller reported hearing gunfire in the area.

The homeowner provided officers with a description of the suspect who had entered the home as well as a vehicle parked in the driveway and police made an arrest a short time later.

“In conjunction with this investigation, it has been documented that this burglary may be connected with multiple vehicle burglaries in the area. Police have contacted most of these victims,” Lt. Stephen Miller said in a press release Monday.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Harker Heights Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at (254) 953-5400.
