KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Local law enforcement agencies took time Friday in Killeen to honor the 12 men and women in blue who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2018.

Their names were read by Temple’s police chief during the annual Bell County Police Officers' Memorial Ceremony.

Killeen police also honored fallen officers Chuck Dinwiddie and Robert Hornsby and recognized the losses of their families'.

"Our hearts and our minds and our prayers are with them,” said keynote speaker retired Harker Heights police Chief Mike Gentry.

“They have an extended family in the law enforcement community because their family member did what others were unwilling to do," he said.

Killeen’s mayor proclaimed May 12 to May 18 as Police Week.
