KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A local man remained behind bars Monday charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police say he shot at a group of people outside a club, hitting one person, and then went back inside.
Corey Dean Reed, Jr., 27, was being held in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $200,000 in bond.
Officers were sent to the R&B Karaoke in the 500 block of North 8th Street on Aug. 11 in response to a report of the shooting and found the 20-year-old victim, an arrest warrant affidavit says.
Police spoke to two people outside the club who gave a description of the man they said opened fire in the parking lot of the Henderson Restaurant next door, the affidavit says.
The witnesses said they then saw the man walk back inside, the affidavit says.
Officers located Reed “escorted him outside of the club here (the two witnesses) positively identified Corey Reed as the shooter,” the affidavit says.
Surveillance video from the club showed a man “wearing a medium color cowboy hat, dark shirt and white pants walk up to a vehicle, open the driver side door, and appear to reach in to retrieve something,” the affidavit says.
The man then walked away from the vehicle and fired repeatedly at a group of people in the parking lot, the affidavit says.
Reed told police he “did not remember anything about the incident,” but after an investigator showed him the video, he “agreed it appeared to be him on the video shooting the gun,” the affidavit says.
