KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) The Killeen School Board Tuesday appointed a new member and decided on a name for a new elementary school.

The board appointed Killeen’s executive director of community services, Brett Williams, to fill a vacancy on the board left by the resignation of Carlyle Walton, the former president/CEO of Metroplex Adventist Hospital, who left Killeen to become president of the Adventist Health Policy Association in Washington, D.C.

The board also voted to name what was designated as Elementary School No. 35 as Maude Moore Wood Elementary School.

Walton was elected to the school board in 2017.

His term expires in May 2020.
