Brian Wadlington was sitting at his computer station Monday when he looked up and saw that his mom was standing right in front of him.

Staff Sgt. Nicole Wadlington, has just returned to Central Texas after spending the past three years serving at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Next month she is scheduled to deploy to Korea to help with combat support, but on Monday, none of that mattered.

The third-grader got to give his mom a hug and said he looked forward to going for a swim.

Wadlington credits her family and the Killeen Independent School District making it possible to spend time away from home serving the country.
