KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) An attempted traffic stop led to a chase and at least one crash Wednesday morning in Killeen.
Officers attempted to pull over a Chevrolet sedan for a traffic violation near Hallmark Avenue and 2nd Street Wednesday morning, but the driver sped off.
During the chase, “officers observed something being thrown from the right passenger side of the vehicle,” an arrest affidavit released Thursday says.
The officers who attempted the traffic stop broke off the pursuit after the driver of the car ran a red light, the affidavit says, but another officer spotted the vehicle and began to follow it.
“The vehicle drove over a curb and struck another occupied vehicle before leaving that location,” the affidavit said.
The occupant of the vehicle the car struck suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The officer gave chase and the pursuit reached speeds of 90 miles per hour before the car spun out and the driver stopped.
The chase ended at Dobbs Avenue and South 52nd Street, where the driver was arrested without incident.
Anthony Al Chambers, 37, faces an evading arrest charge, the affidavit says.
