KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen hosted a tree planting ceremony Thursday to mark Arbor Day and to honor those who served.
The trees were a gift from Keep Killeen Beautiful to family members of veterans who have passed away.
The ceremony included a singer who sang the National Anthem, a saxophone player, and a poem that was recited for the fallen heroes.
John Driver of Keep Killeen Beautiful, who’s a veteran, said he was moved by the ceremony.
"You can never do too much for a veteran. I did 30 years myself, in the Army. And we say 'some gave some, some gave all.’"
Arbor Day is observed on the last Friday of April.
