KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) The Killeen Food Care Center distributed more than 500 Christmas bags to local residents on Friday morning.
From Christmas hams, canned goods and plenty of vegetables and sweets, more than 500 families will have food for the holiday.
Representatives of churches and youth organizations picked up some bags as well.
Raymond L. Cockrell, the center’s executive director, noted that H-E-B and Walmart were major contributors this year, donating a majority of the food given out.
"This is our chance to give to those who can't put food on the table this Christmas," he said.
"Seeing everyone lined up as soon as we opened up really warmed my heart."
