KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Police with the Killeen Independent School District detained four students after an early morning fight at a bus stop.

A district spokeswoman said officers responded to "an altercation between students" Tuesday morning at a bus stop at the intersection of Little Rock and Ledgestone.

The district said five students from Gateway Middle School were held for "disruption of transportation and mutual affray."

Those students have since been released to their parents.

District police charged four other students from Gateway High with disruption.

The fight began with an argument that escalated into the altercation, the district said.

No students were injured during the fight.

"Killeen ISD does not condone this type of behavior, therefore all students involved have had their bus-riding privileges suspended and will be disciplined in accordance to the student code-of-conduct. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority," the district said.

Killeen police assisted KISD police during the disturbance.
