Friday they got a first look at the district's new customized mobile STEM lab.
The bus is equipped with a 60-inch smart television, 30 laptops and iPads and a wide range of science and technology supplies.
It's paid for by a five-year $1 million "Stem in Motion" grant, and it has kids excited about learning outside of the classroom.
“I like how the chairs were super comfy, and there's that big TV right there,” said fifth grader Miguel Pineiro after taking a tour of the bus.
“I think it's really cool and really neat, and it's going to be a great thing in the future,” adds fifth grader Sabrina Dickinson.
Third, fourth and fifth graders will participate in the STEM bus classes.
The bus will make the rounds to 26 KISD elementary schools every nine weeks.
