Killeen: Local restaurant gives away hundreds of gifts to community

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) The spirit of giving continued Saturday afternoon with the Krab Kingz Second Annual Holiday Toy Giveaway in Killeen.

Brandon Martin, the owner of Krab Kingz Seafood, has seen his business grow across Central Texas. Now, he’s able to give back to those in need.

"I just want to be a blessing to everyone else in the community,” Martin said. “The community has supported us from the beginning, so I just want to be able to show my gratitude giving back to the community."

Kids and parents of all ages came out to the event on South Fort Hood Street. From bounce houses to free games and food, there was plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Did we mention free giveaways?

"Monetary gifts, bikes, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, just various items,” Martin said.

Some of the items also included gift cards and bicycles – for boys and girls.

Urenna Medlock, a new resident of Killeen, won a bicycle for her daughter.

"I was excited. I had gave up hope at the end, I didn't think they were going to call my number and they called it,” she said. “I was like 'alright, there goes my bike.'"

A day filled with fun, making sure families have something to put under the tree this holiday season.

"If you are successful, give back. It's a lot of people that's not fortunate. The end of the day, the message is to give back,” Martin added.

He estimates they were able to give away close to $10,000 worth of gifts.
