Killeen: Mall celebrates 38th birthday with two-hour event

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) In celebration of its 38th birthday, the Killeen Mall held a two-hour event filled with giveaways Saturday afternoon.

Shoppers were invited out to the celebration in front of the Dillard's store from noon to 2 p.m.

City leaders including John Crutchfield from the Killeen Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Jose Segarra were in attendance.

The celebration comes as the mall is facing foreclosure. When asked, Segarra said the mall is not going anywhere.

"As far as the citizens are concerned, the city is concerned, it's still business as usual. The managing part of it, that's a different part, that's just ownership thing. But as far as the mall, the businesses that are here currently, that's going to continue," he said.

Mall officials gave out numerous prizes, including a Dallas Cowboys' Dak Prescott jersey, RayBan sunglasses and a $380 mall gift card.
