Killeen: Motorcycle club gives $1K to Operation Phantom Support

Rough Riders Motorcycle Club donates $1,000 to Operation Phantom Support in Killeen.

KILLEEN,Texas (KWTX) A Central Texas motorcycle club gave back in a big way Tuesday afternoon to military families across the area.

Rough Riders, in their first year as a club in Killeen, gave a $1,000 donation to Operation Phantom Support.

"We look at the veterans, active duty, their families...first responders. As we looked around the area, this is one of the organizations that stood out to us that we felt that are help would impact the most impact and most needed in our community," John Orbe said.

The impact of their donation will be felt immediately.

"It's a good feeling to know that there are other veteran groups out there that believe in what we're doing here and understand the impact we're having on this community and they want to be part of it," said John Valentine with Operation Phantom Support.

The non-profit is getting ready for its back-to-school event next month, giving away backpacks filled with school supplies. Operation Phantom Support's mission is to help support the Central Texas community and our troops. Services, including Pantry Days, are provided for military families and first responders.

Rough Riders Motorcycle Club is also dedicated to issues surrounding veterans.

Orbe says Tuesday's donation is just one of many ways they plan on giving back to military families.
