Killeen: Restaurant gives back to local kids with gifts and food

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) On Christmas Eve, employees at Pluckers in Killeen were able to provide a holiday cheer to children from the Boys and Girls Club.

From multiple gifts to a free lunch, the relationship between the restaurant and Boys and Girls Club of Central Texas dates back years.

“Christmas is a time for giving back and blessing others. So, this is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together for some of the kids who may not have a good Christmas without this," said Angela Williams, unit director.

Donations and money for the gifts came from the Pluckers staff. Employees made sure there were enough gifts for each child.

“It’s awesome to get to see the smiles on their faces, they are so grateful and the parents are so happy, relaxed and having an awesome time. They may not have been able to have this without the Boys and Girls Club," Kristin Eickenhorst said.

The gifts putting a big smile on everyone's face, including the kids who often have other things to worry about.

"I was excited because the Boys and Girls Club, they’re pretty nice people and I’m happy to be there," said 9-year-old Aries Osborne.

The event helping to ease the burden for families this holiday season.

“It’s truly a blessing. To be able to see that look in their eyes that lights up, it’s just a happy feeling," Williams added.
