Chief responds to video of officer texting and driving, not wearing seat belt

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Killeen Police Chief Charles Kimble responded Thursday after a viral video on Facebook shows a Killeen police officer texting and drive, while not wearing a seatbelt, in a marked patrol unit.

“Although, both of these violations are minor in nature, we understand that the expectations that our community expects were not met in this incident.”

Kimble thanks the public for bringing the incident to his attention.

The officer was traveling south on South W.S. Young when the video was recorded.

“We take traffic enforcement and safety seriously and will handle this matter the same. There is a process in place to handle any allegations of misconduct by an officer, and that process is currently ongoing incident.”

Since the video was posted online Tuesday it has been shared more than 2,200 times and viewed by 81,000 people.
