TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) A Last Call memorial service was held at the Olin E. Teague Veterans' Medical Center Sunday morning.
The service honored 136 veterans in the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System catchment area who died from Aug. 1 to Sept. 15.
"This is a place to allow those individuals to continue feel those emotions they need to feel until they get restoration," says Chaplin Byron Singleton who has started organizing Last Call services when he began in the spring.
Due to the services being so heavily attended, the VA has begun holding them every other month. The response from the community has moved Chaplin Singleton.
"I love being in Central Texas because everywhere I see an active duty soldier or I am seeing a veteran," says Singleton, "I see people who love the United States of America."
The VA hopes that those who receive letters of invitation continue to come to the Last Call services and celebrate their loved ones life with the community.
