The 18th annual 5k Leatherneck Run is coming up Saturday, Nov. 2 at Brazos Park East in Waco.

The fundraiser benefits the Marine Corps League which supports the Marine and veteran community through camaraderie, financial assistance, and more.

Marine veteran and race organizer Ralph Getman said, "we are here to serve any active duty Marine or veteran, family, if they have any needs they can approach us. And it's not just Marines. With Veteran's Day approaching, we're also open to assist veterans organizations, people who served this country."

The Marine Corps League also supports the Marine veterans reserve unit and Toys For Tots.

People who attend will also see the cake cutting ceremony ahead of the 244th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps which is November 10.

The ceremony starts at about 7:30 a.m. and the race starts at 8:15.
