WACO, Texas (KWTX) A lifeguard late Tuesday morning pulled an unconscious 8-year-old girl from the pool at the Hawaiian Falls water park in Waco where students from three area school districts were swimming.
The lifeguard spotted the girl struggling in the water and jumped in to help her, a park spokesman said.
She was unconscious when she was pulled from the pool, but vomited water and by the time first responders arrived, was able to walk to the ambulance on her own, the spokesman said.
She was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.
Firefighters and paramedics were sent at around 11 a.m. to the water park at 900 Lake Shore Dr. after receiving a report of a drowning.
Students from the Waco, Connally and Bruceville-Eddy ISDs were at the park at the time.
Gholson ISD students, however, were not at the park, as KWTX initially reported.
The spokesman did not know from which district the girl came.
