HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) Harker Heights police are investigating a gunpoint robbery at a local Verizon store that left two employees injured.

The two were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said Monday.

Officers were dispatched just before 9 p.m. Friday to the store in the 700 block of Indian Trail in response to a robbery alarm call.

They determined that one of the employees was outside the store taking a break when two suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts masks and gloves approached, pointing pistols at him, police said in a press release Monday.

The two robbers forced the employee back inside the store, confronted the second employee at gunpoint, accessed the area of the store where phones and tablets were stored and then struck both employees several times with their pistols, placing them to the floor, police said.

The pair escaped with “a large quantity of cell phones and tablets,” police said.

Investigators later traced the stolen items to an apartment building in Killeen.

They obtained a warrant and searched the apartment where they found all of the items stolen from the store, along with a male juvenile, who was hiding in the apartment.

They also recovered a stolen gun and other property stolen in a recent cell phone store robbery in Killeen.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the Harker Heights Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at (254) 953-5400.
