KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Men, women, and children walked through the heart of downtown Killeen, in an effort to end violent crime.

The march began Saturday morning on Hallmark Avenue and continued to Conder Park.

Organizers hoping that the march sends a message to the city's youth about ending violence.

"I'm hoping this is a step for us as a community to come together as one," says Keila Cruz who walked in honor of her son Jonathan Martinez who was killed in a Killeen shooting on October 30th.

"This is our kids, and our future. We need to set an example," says Cruz.

The march was followed by a meet and greet at the Killeen Community Center, that again encouraged an end to violence.
