BELL COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) Deputies used Narcan to revive a drug overdose victim over the weekend after responding to a cardiac call in rural Bell County.

Deputies found the unresponsive man lying on the floor of a home as family members performed CPR, Bell County sheriff’s Lt. Robert Reinhard said in a press release.

They learned from relatives that the man had overdosed on opioids and administered a 4 mg. dose of Narcan to the victim, who “subsequently woke up and became responsive,” he said.

The unidentified man walked to the ambulance under his own power and was taken to Scott & White Medical Center for treatment, Reinhard said.

Deputies have been trained since late 2018 in the use of Narcan, he said.
