KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Some elementary school students in Killeen got home a little later than usual Tuesday after their bus was struck by an oncoming car.

The accident happened at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on Chaparral Road in the area of White Castle Lane.

The bus was headed southeast on Chaparral Road when the oncoming car struck it.

Thirteen students from Trimmier Elementary School were aboard the bus at the time of the accident, Killeen ISD spokeswoman Taina Maya said.

Neither they nor the driver was injured, she said.

A spare bus was sent to the scene to transport the children, she said.

The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital, but information about injuries and condition wasn’t immediately available.
