NOLANVILLE, Texas (KWTX) American Rockwool, an insulation manufacturer that’s in the midst of a dispute over insurance coverage for damage to its facility in Nolanville from a storm in 2019, announced Wednesday it’s laying off 13 workers.

The smokestack of the Plano-based company’s manufacturing facility in Nolanville was damaged in June 2019.

The cost of replacing the stack is about $2.2 million, the company said in a press release Wednesday.

A fabricator was found to replace the stack, but a 30% payment of about $750,000 is required.

The facility had continued operations in order to pay employees at a cost of about $100,000 a month and the owner was not taking a salary, the company said.
