KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A 12-year-old Killeen middle school student was arrested after making a bomb threat against his school.

The sixth grader was arrested Tuesday and “confessed to making up the hoax,” the district said in a press release.

He’s charged with terroristic threat, which Superintendent John Craft says is “a very serious crime.”

“There is no threat to the safety of our students. KISD Police thoroughly searched the building and determined there was no bomb,” Principal Lolly Garcia said in a phone call to parents.

A second student who posted a rumor about the threat on social media is facing disciplinary action.

Craft asked parents to talk to their children to “help us get them to understand that making a threat against the school is a very serious crime and that if they do it, we will arrest them and send them to jail.”
