A Killeen Municipal election Judge was indicted by a Bell County grand jury this week.
Klaus Michael Adam was arraigned Friday and released on bond for the charge of criminal attempt illegal voting.
“During the May 4, 2019 Killeen municipal election, city staff became aware that an election judge had cast a vote in each of the three district elections though he was eligible to cast only one vote in one district,” city spokesperson Hillary Shine said.
Staff reported the incident to Killeen Police Department and an investigation was opened.
The department determined that the elements of an offense were present and sent the case to the Bell County District Attorney, who subsequently took it before the grand jury.
Shine said the improper votes cast did not affect the outcome of any of the district elections because of the significant vote differential in each race.
