SALADO, Texas (KWTX) Salado police Chief Rick Ashe, a veteran law enforcement officer who’s called Salado home since 1991, announced Friday that he will step down on Dec. 28 to take a new position as chief of police in Kenedy, a town of about 3,300 residents between San Antonio and Beeville.

“This is a big change for me and my family but we are excited about the challenge,” he said.

Ashe, a veteran Temple police officer and former Salado alderman and mayor, was named the village’s police chief in May 2017.
