KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Fifty five pigs that a Killeen woman surrendered to animal control officers will be turned over to Wills Point-based My Pig Filled Life Animal Rescue, which is scrambling to make room for the animals.

The mini pigs, which average 150 pounds or less, were seized on Nov. 4 from a home at 4436 Reese Creek Rd. on the edge of Killeen, just east of Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport.

Lina Haygood, the owner of Miso Happie Mini Pigs, agreed to surrender ownership of the animals immediately, officials said.

Two of the pigs have already been taken by the rescue group, but 53 others are held at an undisclosed location.

The rescue group plans to transport them next week to a quarantine site and has been seeking contributions to cover the cost.
