There's a little Christmas magic happening over at Magnolia.
Christmas at the Silos is taking place over two weekends this year; the first will feature a concert with Shane & Shane and Phil Wickham, the second will have a concert with Drew and Ellie Holcomb and ice skating on a synthetic rink.
"We have a really great team, and with the vision of Chip and Jo, we worked together to bring this to life, we actually sent somebody all the way to Colorado to test it out," said Sarah Angell, Events Director for Magnolia. "We just wanted to bring the best to all the folks here in Waco to have this really fun skating experience."
While it's the first year for skating, this is the fourth year of the event which was established in 2016.
The nine day celebration takes place December 6th to the 14th at the Magnolia Silos at 601 Webster Ave.
"It's just a beautiful time to be out here, we have the Christmas lights, the trees on the stage, and it just feels really magical," said Angell.
Those who attend will be able to take photos with Santa and purchase food and drinks from vendors. Ground admission is free, but those who attend will have to purchase tickets to the concerts and to skate.
Ice skating at the Silos will be from Wednesday, December 11th to Saturday, December 14th.
Locals got to take the "ice" first: Magnolia held a special 'locals night' Wednesday where, for a $7 donation to The Cove to help fight youth homelessness, guests got to shop for 40 percent off, listen to area choirs sing Christmas carols, and take photos with Santa from 6-8pm.
"We love Waco, it's so central to everything we do, so having this opportunity to have such a huge thing with out locals--it was just a no-brainer," said Angell. "The best part is that the proceeds went to The Cove, which is a local organization doing great things that is near and dear to our heart."
Waco mom Ashley Long learned about the locals night through social media and brought her son.
"I love it, he's been asking to ice skate for two weeks," said Long. "We so appreciate the family time that they offer with a small-town, family-like feel."
"It's been awesome," she said.
The skating continues Thursday through Saturday from 9am-6pm. Ticket prices range from $5 for kids to $15 for adults.
Tickets to the Drew and Ellie Holcomb concert Saturday night are $40.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Santa will be at the Silos on Friday & Saturday from 10am-3pm, and there will be face-painting from 11am-4pm.
Those who purchase tickets to the concert will be able to purchase discounted ice skating tickets.
