WACO, Texas (KWTX) A man was recovering Monday after being attacked with a knife and shot twice during an assault.
According to Waco Police Sgt. Patrick Swanton, officers were dispatched to a gunfire call around 10:20 a.m. and then a shooting call a short time later in the 2500 block of Cole Avenue.
When they arrived at the home on Cole Avenue, officers learned that Oscar Areas, 31, was in a fight with someone he knew on North 9th Street.
During the fight, the other person pulled out a knife and started attacking Areas and then shot at him when he tried to run away.
Areas was shot twice in the lower torso and suffered knife wounds on his neck, left elbow, and left torso, Swanton said.
None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Police were still searching for the suspect and our investigation is ongoing.
