Ryan Nelson Bass, 39, of Waco, is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and assault family violence by impeding breath or circulation, according to jail officials.

He was held in the Lampasas County Jail Thursday without bond after being booked on Dec. 20.

According to officials with the Lampasas Police Department, the 51-year-old victim called authorities on Dec. 12, saying she was sexually assaulted on Dec. 10.

The lead investigator says Bass and the victim were at a hotel when she was choked until she became unconscious and then was sexually assaulted.

The victim later drove herself to a hospital in Temple with serious injuries, police say.

Lampasas police obtained a warrant for Bass' arrest.

He was taken to the Lampasas County Jail after Waco police arrested him.

Police say Bass' attorney claims his client and the woman had dated for a year and he did not force her to have sex with him.

Bass is scheduled to be in court Friday.
