WACO, Texas (KWTX) Clifton Woods, 49, of Hondo in Medina County, who was in critical condition after crashing his motorcycle Tuesday evening in Waco has died at a local hospital, police said in a press release early Thursday afternoon.

Woods died Wednesday morning, police said.

No autopsy was ordered.

Waco police responded to the crash at Highway 84 and Highway 6 at around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday and found Woods lying on the ground and being treated by paramedics, police Sgt. Patrick Swanton said.

Woods suffered severe, life-threatening head injuries, Swanton said.

At the time of the crash, Woods was riding with a woman, who was on another motorcycle, Swanton said.

“She stated that Woods rode up behind her and may have bumped her motorcycle,” Swanton said.

“Woods then lost control of the motorcycle as they were entering the on ramp to head east on U.S. 84, crashing his bike,” he said.

Woods was not wearing a helmet, he said.
