KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A 65-year-old man who was struck by a Honda Accord as he and his wife attempted to cross the street Thursday evening in a Killeen residential neighborhood was in critical condition Friday in a local hospital.

Officers responded to the accident just before 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Robinett Road and Gus Drive.

The victim, whose name wasn’t released, was flown to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, police said Friday.

He and his wife were walking west on Gus when they tried to cross Robinett “failing to yield right of way to the Honda,” police said in a press release Friday.

"The intersection at Gus and Robinett and does not have a marked crosswalk nor is it particularly well lit," police said.

“The driver of the Honda Accord stated that he did not see the pedestrian prior to the impact, and there are currently no charges pending for the driver of the vehicle,” police said.

None of the three people riding in the Honda was injured.
