Early-morning fire leaves 2 local residents homeless; one later arrested

LITTLE RIVER ACADEMY, Texas (KWTX) Two people are without a home after a fire early Friday in Little River-Academy, but one of the two, Margaret Tovar, 42, was later arrested on a Board of Pardons and Paroles warrant and was booked into the Bell County Jail.

She’s held without bond.

The fire started around 1 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of Evans Street.

No one was home when the fire started.

When crews arrived to the home was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from Little River, Temple, Troy, Bartlett, and Holland responded.

Temple EMS and Bell County Sheriff Officers were also on scene.

The Bell County Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
