NOLANVILLE, Texas (KWTX) The Central Bell Fire and Rescue team has received its largest donation ever of important emergency response equipment in the form of bundles of teddy bears.

The Veterans Teddy Bear Project delivered 135 stuffed animals to Nolanville for the station's Trauma Buddy Program on Wednesday.

The stuffed animals will be given to children and special needs adults during stressful and traumatic events.

"We'll approach the children with them and will explain that we have this friend, and they don't have a name- they don't have a house and we would like them to take care of them,” says Chief Jason Worsdale.

“But the stipulation is that they need to come back and let us know what they named their stuff animal, so we can continue to stay involved and help them rebuild.”

The chief says most emergency response teams try to keep blankets and toys on hand.

New and gently used stuffed animals may be dropped off at your local fire or police department.
