Nolanville: Annual event raises money for child abuse awareness

NOLANVILLE, Texas (KWTX) The annual Que 4 Kids fundraising event for Aware Central Texas kicked off Thursday to help raise money and bring awareness about child abuse.

The event, which is located at Sandy’s Lone Star Events in Nolanville, will go through Saturday.

Jarrod Young, president of Que 4 Kids, is carrying on the legacy of his mother who helped fight to end family violence and child abuse through Aware Central Texas. The event was started six years ago.

“It was a way to continue on her legacy and helping child abuse and Aware Central Texas,” Young said.

Some of the biggest events will take place Friday night with a live auction featuring 75 autographed items. The Texas Twister Band, featuring Mitch Connell, will provide the live music.

“The thing that most people don’t realize is that the situation these children are in and these families are in, is they don’t realize it is happening. It is their norm. It’s up to us to break the cycle,” Young said.

There is also events for the children with a demolition derby and barbecue cook-off on Saturday.

Young says the event has raised more $130,000 towards child abuse prevention programs across Central Texas.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite and Que4Kids.org.
