BARDWELL, Texas (KWTX) A North Texas infant died Friday after being found unresponsive in a car.

According to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found the child around 5 p.m. at a home in the 500 block of Elm Street in Bardwell.

The 11-month-old girl was not breathing, the officer said.

Deputies began CPR until medics arrived but they determined the child has already passed away.

The sheriff's office did not say how the child got into the car, how long she was in there or if it was running at the time.

High temperatures that day reached the mid-90s.

The baby’s body was taken to the Dallas Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

The office’s Criminal Investigations Division is conducting an investigation into the death, with assistance from the Texas Rangers.
