TEMPLE, Texas A 15-year-veteran of the Temple Police Department accused of driving drunk in Belton is on administrative leave while his department investigates the arrest.
Joseph Clark was charged with DWI.
Belton Police contacted the Temple Police Department's leadership late Monday night to inform officials of the arrest within their jurisdiction.
Temple police said they are working with Belton police "to obtain all of the information related to the situation."
Clark has been placed on paid investigative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Police said he was off duty at the time of his arrest.
The officer was "not representing the City of Temple, nor acting in any official capacity during the alleged offense," police said.
"I am disappointed in the conduct that led to this arrest," said interim Chief Jim Tobin, "The officer will be held accountable to the standards and policies of the Temple Police Department."
The criminal investigation will be conducted by the Belton Police Department, Temple Police said.
Clark is not listed in Bell County's online jail records.
Clark waived a formal arraignment hearing and was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond according to the Bell County Sheriff's Department.
