HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) Harker Heights officers arrested two suspects early Monday after two local convenience stores were robbed at knifepoint.

The names of the two men in custody weren’t immediately released.

The first robbery was reported just before midnight Sunday at SAMS Food Mart in the 2300 block of Indian Trail.

The two men, one wearing blue jean shorts and a white muscle shirt with a white shirt covering his face and the second wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and a white shirt over his face, walked into the store.

One produced a knife and the two demanded cash.

Eleven minutes later officers were dispatched to the CEFCO store in the 900 block of Indian Trail where two men with the same descriptions robbed the clerk at knifepoint, leaving the knife behind, but taking the store’s register.

While officers investigated the two holdups, other officers were sent to the Knights Food Mart in the 700 block of East Knights Way in response to a suspicious person call.

The description of the two men at that store matched the descriptions of the two robbers.

Officers found the pair trying to leave in the area in a vehicle.

They pulled the vehicle over and both men got out and tried to run.

Officers caught one after a short chase and found the second one later hiding in the backyard of a home in the Knights Ridge area.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Harker Heights Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at (254) 953-5400
